Newark, NJ - Mississippi State rolls into the Garden State and defeat Rutgers at the Prudential Center on December 23rd 2023.
The Bulldogs (10-2) and the Scarlet Knights (7-4) came into the Prudential Center for the 2023 Gotham Classic. Mississippi State from the SEC and Rutgers from the Big 10, both came into this game confident, cool and collected. The first half of the game was tied up at 29, with Rutgers Forward, Aundre Hyatt led the team with 9 points while Miss. State Guard Dashawn Davis lead his team with 10 points going into the half.
The second half of the game was all Miss. State when they took a 15 point lead in the second half with 5:42 left and they didn't look back. Miss. State Forward Jimmy Bell Jr. led the half with 17 points with 12 coming from the field goal. Miss. State would defeat Rutgers by 10 points and advance to 10-2, Meanwhile Rutgers falls to 7-4 and with just 1 more game against a non-conference team, they need to bounce back and prepare for Conference Play.
